I’ve been seeing them on more and more cars you wouldn’t expect. RAV-4's, Lexus RX’s ect. Usually both front and back, and always chrome.

I think it’s just more prevalent in places where parallel parking is the norm. Lots of places/cities don’t have much need for parallel parking.
